What
is EXPERIENCE AVIATION?
You might see some kids building a hovercraft to take home.
Someone
might be attempting coverage for crop dusting a field, or learning
how to make sense of a navigation chart.
Someone else might
be learning about float plane docking on the simulator.
We have
activities for all ages from preschool to seasoned pilots.
NEW:
Complete Saturday's schedule and follow Heart's on Wing's Flight
Plan and you will be qualified for the Scouts Aviation Badge!
Contact Hearts on Wings for more information.
We’ll
have short talks from pilots covering topics such as airline scheduling,
crop dusting and seaplanes flying. Aviation High School students
will show what they are learning in their classes. We’ll
also have aviation projects to explore. I’m
sure you’ll find something you want to try out.
Olympic Flight Museum is bringing the T-28 fuselage so you can
climb in and check out the cockpit. We’ll have paper airplanes
being built and tested for the daily contests, not just distance
but spot landings too. The computer flight simulators will have
some programmed flights.
Hearts on Wings uses Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 to custom-design
and program flights. The computer is programmed to check things
like your heading, speed and altitude. If you stray from the glide
path, the onscreen message displays tips for how you might alter
your course. When you reach the desired goal, the flight stops
and the onscreen message displays how well you performed the task.
We work with a flight instructor and a computer programmer to
create these kinds of customization. We often hear kids say this
flying is the best part of what we offer.
Some flights are networked with about eight aircraft in the airspace,
flying side by side.
Hearts On Wings is an education-oriented organization. Kids can
take their verbal and cognitive skills from their academic experiences
and apply them to a real world environment. They discover learning
is fun!
Bring the whole family and Experience Aviation all weekend!
